What is punchout catalog?
A punchout catalog is a connection that lets a customer’s buyer shop on a supplier’s website from inside the buyer’s own purchasing system. The buyer sees its contract prices and brings the filled cart back into the purchasing system for approval, and the approved order then returns to the supplier as a purchase order.
How it works
Large organizations use procurement systems to control who buys what. Punchout lets them keep that control while using the distributor’s live catalog and prices. The two most common technical standards are cXML and OCI.
Punchout catalog example
Inside the university’s procurement system, a buyer clicks the distributor’s logo, fills a cart at contract prices and sends it back for approval; the PO reaches the distributor once it is approved.
