What is proof of delivery (POD)?

Proof of delivery (POD) is the record that a shipment reached the customer, such as a signature, photo or timestamp captured by the driver or carrier. It settles disputes about whether, when and to whom goods were delivered.

Proof of delivery (POD) example

“It never arrived,” the customer says. The POD shows a driver’s photo of the pallet at the customer’s receiving door, signed for by the receiving clerk.
