What is per C and per M pricing?
Per C and per M pricing means a price is quoted per 100 units (C) or per 1,000 units (M), from the Roman numerals, rather than per single unit. It is common for small, high-volume items such as fasteners, connectors and wire sold by the foot.
How it works
A related unit is CWT, or hundredweight, a price per 100 pounds. When the pricing unit differs from the selling unit of measure, the extended price depends on the ERP converting correctly, and a per-M price keyed as a per-each price produces an invoice a thousand times too large.
Per C and per M pricing example
Wire at $250 per M feet, 500 feet ordered: the line should extend to $125. Entered as $250 a foot, it would extend to $125,000.
